I stumbled onto your site while looking for tampa-based practitioners for my daughters with sinus problems. I don't know anything about CF, but I just want to commend you for the clarity and intelligence of your writing and the courage you display in your struggle. Best wishes to you and stay off that soda!! Try a local health food store ( I like Rollin' Oats) for calorie-dense smoothies with organic fruits, vegetables and herbs. They can really pack the pounds on, but with nutrition, not junk.

It's amazing what cutting that out of my diet did to my energy, sleep, and
my potential for diabetes. I'd had bad hypoglycemia for years. I'd get the
shakes after church every Sunday and sometimes see spots at the grocery
store as I was trying to enter my PIN to buy some food to feel better. I
once tested a 37 with my kit after they gave me one.

That was the day I stopped cold-turkey for 2 weeks and switched to Gatorade
instead. Talk about headaches! ;-)

As I'm starting to read through and learn about your journey, I'm sure I'll be leaving comments here and there. John was also "pre-diabetic" in 2007. He had to monitor his blood sugar for several months just to see when his sugar spikes were and what foods were causing it. He too cut out sodas. When we started dating in 2001, he was drinking almost a 12-pack a day. I stopped buying them for home. After a few months, his doctor said he could stop checking his blood, but be aware that it would probably be something that would happen in the future. We have a Total Gym and a few free weights that he uses to exercise with.
